BPSC answer key 2026: 72nd CCE Prelims
Where the 72nd prelims answer key stands, what BPSC did for the 71st and the 70th, and a score calculator for the 72nd marking. Every BPSC fact links its document, and what BPSC leaves unstated is labelled as our reading.
When will BPSC release the 72nd answer key?
Exam date: Tentatively 25 October 2026 (BPSC exam calendar dated 14 August 2026) Source
As of 4 October 2026, BPSC has not published the 72nd answer key, and no 72nd notice we found says when it will or how objections will work.
BPSC’s advertisement says the prelims may be held in more than one shift or with more than one booklet set. Source
BPSC’s official website has been bpsc.bihar.gov.in since 15 January 2025. Source
How did BPSC release the 71st and 70th answer keys?
Precedent, not a promise: this is what BPSC did for the 71st and the 70th. As of 4 October 2026, no 72nd notice we found says how or when the key will come. The days are counted by us from each exam; BPSC prints none of them.
| Step | BPSC’s date | Day, counted by us | Details | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Exam | 13 September 2025 | exam day | Held from 12 noon to 2 pm. | Source |

| Objections | 21 to 27 September 2025 | days 8 to 14 | Candidates who appeared could object from 21 to 27 September 2025: log in with their username and password and upload the objection on the dashboard with authentic evidence or a source, at a fee of 250 rupees per question. Objections sent after that date or by any other route are not considered. | Source |
| Final answer key | 31 October 2025 | day 48 | Displayed on BPSC’s website from 31 October 2025. BPSC deleted 5 in each set; in Set E, numbers 11, 69, 75, 96 and 118. | Source |
| Result | 18 November 2025 | day 66 | Dated 18 November 2025. 3,16,905 candidates appeared at 912 centres in 37 districts, and 13,368 qualified for Mains. | Source |
Our reading: if the 72nd’s key also comes set by set, read the answers for the set printed on your booklet.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Exam | 13 December 2024 | exam day | Held from 12 noon to 2 pm. BPSC cancelled the exam at one centre only, Bapu Pariksha Parisar in Kumhrar, Patna, and said it would publish a re-exam date for that centre’s candidates. BPSC re-examined that centre’s candidates on 4 January 2025, at 22 centres in Patna. It published its two provisional keys after that re-exam (day 4 for that sitting, counted by us), and published the final keys and the one result on the same dates for both sittings. Source | Source |
| Provisional answer keys | 8 January 2025 | day 26 | Provisional keys for both sittings were displayed with the press note of 8 January 2025, after the re-exam of 4 January 2025, so, in our reading, this day count is not BPSC’s pace for a single sitting. | Source |
| Objections | until 16 January 2025 (press note of 8 January 2025) | until day 34 | Claims and objections were invited until 16 January 2025. The press notes we found print no start date, route or fee. | Source |
| Final answer keys | 17 January 2025 | day 35 | Final keys for both sittings displayed from 17 January 2025. BPSC deleted 4 in each set of each sitting. | Source |
| Result | 23 January 2025 | day 41 | One result for both sittings, dated 23 January 2025. | Source |
BPSC prelims score calculator (72nd marking)
How this calculator scores
- Marks: 150 marks, from a single General Studies paper. Source
- Questions: 150 questions in every recent paper (65th to 71st), each of equal marks. Source Inferred: BPSC’s advertisement states the total of 150 marks but not the number of questions. Every paper from the 65th to the 71st that we hold has 150 questions of equal marks, so we read the 72nd the same way.
- Correct answer: +1 for each correct answer (150 marks over 150 equal questions). Source Inferred: BPSC’s advertisement states 150 marks in total but not the mark for one correct answer. With 150 questions of equal marks, we read +1 for each correct answer.
- Wrong answer: One-third negative marking for each wrong answer. Source
- Option E: Option E means “Not Attempted”, and marking E is the required way to skip a question. Source
- Marks for option E: A question marked E scores 0: no mark added or deducted. Source Inferred: BPSC’s notices do not state a mark for E; they deduct one-third only for a wrong or a fully blank answer, so we read E as 0.
- Fully blank question: A question with none of A to E marked loses one-third of a mark. Source
No 72nd notice we read before the exam says how a question with more than one option marked is scored; your question booklet’s cover instructions are BPSC’s word for the 72nd. On the 69th and the 71st, BPSC’s booklet treated it as wrong, with one-third deducted (precedent). We count it as wrong: enter it under wrong. Source
BPSC has not said, in any 71st or 72nd notice we read, how it scores a deleted question. For the 70th, its press note of 8 January 2025 said a deleted question’s marks go to every candidate; its revised note of 13 January 2025 left that sentence out. So we show both figures.
The 71st was set under BPSC’s earlier system: four options, and answering was not compulsory. So its cut-offs need not match the 72nd’s.
The minimum marks are the least needed to qualify. BPSC sends ten times the notified vacancies to Mains, plus everyone tied at a category’s cut-off, so in practice the cut-off depends on how many candidates in each category score above it (our reading). Source
